  7.               This is the public version of OPTIKS. OPTIKS is a
  8.      system designed along the lines of spread sheet for graphics. It
  9.      is a large paste up board for graphics from various sources. It
  10.      can read graphics files from Apple MacPaint, PC Paintbrush,
  11.      Microsoft Paint and a dozen or so other file formats. It can
  12.      print out on IBM, Epson, HP, OKI, GEMINI, Panasonic and Canon
  13.      printers. It supports CGA, VGA, EGA, Hercules and several other
  14.      screen modes. This version saves in BLOAD formats (7 flavors)
  15.      and a super compressed mode which is unique to OPTIKS and PCRGB.
  16.      This version also supports direct reads from CANON IX-12
  17.      scanners and JLASER scanner drivers.

  19.               OPTIKS is not fully tested yet. It is a complete
  20.      rewrite of PCRGB, but many of the PCRGB features have yet to be
  21.      implemented. Don't erase the last (1.36) version of PCRGB yet!

  23.               OPTIKS runs smoother and generally faster than PCRGB
  24.      and should have fewer bugs. Hercules users should be pleased
  25.      with the Hercules support. See WHATS.NEW for a rundown on some
  26.      of the features. There is still no documentation. I am working
  27.      on the documentation after all this time.

  29.      Soon, OPTIKS will be released as a commercial program. The public
  30.      version will always be available through the BBS's, but will not
  31.      write to file formats other than PCR and BLOAD. The commercial
  32.      version will be available some time in December. The pricing is
  33.      not yet final. It will be sold as a graphics utility for
  34.      converting between file types.
